HUMANS are complex creatures with specialized systems that meticulously interact with each other to allow physiological functions to work smoothly. From the genetic make up to molecular level, down to cellular level as the functional unit system, human biological properties are distinctive in nature. Animal models in research studies have been scientifically designed to mimic human functions in order to find answers to certain actions of substances or phenomenon. Each animal has to be carefully selected that only those with the highest similarities of functions qualified.
By mimicking functions of humans, say in a rodent’s heart pumping, we learn a lot. But certainly not the other way round.
This is to answer the absurd way of Zurairi AR concluded in his article, where he had suggested that sexual orientation of humans (should) mimic or emulate those of the animals in matters of homosexuality. Even weirder, he suggested it as a way to resolve conflicts… that actually exist….. in animal kingdom?
There’s no scientific basis in this kind of reference where obviously, the cross – species examples being used, defy any rules of systematic comparison. There’s no evidence that resorting to animalistic behaviours, would solve human problems. What we have is human behaving in beastly manners that create chaos all over the world, with murder, war, tortures and so on.
It is certainly pathetic that in order for man to fulfil their lust and justify the sexual orientation of homosexuality or bisexuality, they now have to borrow animals ‘ behaviours.
Zurairi AR doesn’t believe in curbing or curing LGBT, suscribing perhaps to the notion that they are “born that way”. I quote an extensive review by Dr. Lawrence S. Mayer and Dr. Paul R. McHugh from John Hopkins School of Public Health, who have reviewed more than 500 scientific papers regarding LGBT, in The Atlantis magazines, who said that the understanding of sexual orientation as an innate, biologically fixed property of human beings—the idea that people are “born that way”—is not supported by scientific evidence. What they found were that as compared to heterosexuals, non-heterosexuals (homosexuals or bisexuals) are about two to three times as likely to have experienced childhood sexual abuse, suggestive more of ‘nurture’ rather than ‘nature’ in this complex issue.
In the National Geographic magazine discussing about gender fluidity early this year, a few psychiatrists in United States of America have expressed worries that parents, believing so much in ‘born that way” theory, are hastily “nurturing” their children following their choice of gender confusion. Longitudinal studies of adolescents suggest that as many as 80% of male adolescents who report same-sex attractions no longer do so as adults.
Now, talking about homophobia, the term which has been given the same connotation equal to the level of “anti – semitic” phrase, so commonly thrown to critics of the Zionist brutality, you’ll find that one can’t even express the belief that LGBT can be cured nowadays without being branded as homophobia. You can’t reach out to those who are still confused about who they are without being labelled as such. Nevermind the facts that part of the reasons why we are advising against the lifestyles of LGBT are for their own health benefits, because studies showed:
● as compared to the general population, LGBT subpopulations are at an elevated risk for a variety of adverse health in and mental health outcomes.
● LGBT population are about 1.5 times higher risk of experiencing anxiety disorders than members of the heterosexual population, as well as roughly double the risk of depression, 1.5 times the risk of substance abuse, and nearly 2.5 times the risk of suicide.
● Members of the transgender population are at higher risk of a variety of mental health problems compared to members of
the non-transgender population. The rate of lifetime suicide attempts across all ages of transgender individuals is estimated at 41%, compared to under 5% in the overall U.S. population.
As for Malaysia health data concerning LGBT, I have elaborated previously in the articles below:
http://www.ismaweb.net/2017/01/transgender-facebook-status-takes-precedence-national-health-report/
So, who are actually homophobics?
Aren’t they the ones who conveniently use pseudoscience of animal- human behaviours comparison to reach a hasty conclusion, to make many believe that they are born that way when science has no evidence of it, and therefore put many at risk as they choose the LGBT lifestyle that predisposes them to myriads of physical and psychological health problems?
As Muslims, the facts that LGBT lifestyles are forbidden in Islam, is enough to deter us from embracing such lifestyles without the need for elaboration of the above medical facts. Certainly we should not approve it, let alone encouraging it. Zurairi AR should have known this.
